This plaque honors the United States Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne (WPB-1339), a vessel that proudly served the nation.

Named after our very own island, the Key Biscayne was one of 41 cutters in the 110-foot Island-class patrol boat fleet. These boats were a modified version of a successful British design, and their exceptional range and seaworthiness allowed them to replace the older 95-foot Cape-class patrol boats.
Built with advanced electronics and navigation equipment, the Key Biscayne and its sister ships were crucial to the Coast Guard's mission. The vessel was commissioned in 1988 and was stationed in St. Petersburg, Florida.
